The Tapi basin is the northernmost basin of the Deccan plateau, covering an area of 65,145 km2. It is located between east longitudes of 72 33′ and 78 17′ and latitudes of 20 N to 22 N. The basin spans across the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
