What is the location of Stadion Letzigrund and its purpose?

Stadion Letzigrund is situated around 2.5 kilometers west of Zürich's city center, and it's about 500 meters further from the main railway station. The stadium is primarily used for hosting home matches of FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich, as well as the Meeting Weltklasse Zürich.

The decision to expand Stadion Letzigrund was made in 1997, and in April 2004, the architecture proposal “Corculum Impressum” by Bétrix & Consolascio Architects BSA / Frei & Ehrensperger Architects BSA was selected as the winning project. The new Letzigrund Stadium is partially built into the ground, resulting in a unique design.
